Required education and
Experience:
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in food/dairy science, chemistry, biology, or related fields with 10
years of experience.
Proven track record of d irect management of technical staff while maintaining responsibility for own project work.
Proven track record in leading and managing various product development projects from concept to commercialization.
Experience working in application lab, pilot plant systems and laboratory instrumentation, and production line trials.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment including sales, FSQ, operations, finance, customer service, and procurement.
Strong technical knowledge of process cheese, cheese analogue, plant-based dairy from molecular chemistry to processability at production scale.
Must have a valid driver's license.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
Works in general office conditions Will be exposed to general manufacturing operations requiring personal protective equipment such as uniform, bump cap, safety glasses and hearing protection.
Tasting a wide variety of dairy and non-dairy products.
Essential job functions:
Subject matter expert for any technical question related to current and alternative cheese processes and p rovide technical expertise and serve as a resource to the company in areas including, but not limited to, product and process development, shelf- life testing, consumer acceptability, ingredient functionality and product performance in customer processes and in final applications.
Oversee R&D lab functions, pilot plant operations, and manage smooth functioning of all aspects of product development department including sample shipping.
Works cross-collaboratively with internal and external resources (suppliers, consultants, development partners, etc.
) to achieve product development objectives.
Collaborates with Commercial team / Plant Operations/ Engineering / FSQ / Regulatory to assure smooth transition from R&D to Operations on all projects - and to provide technical support to the plants as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
Regularly reviews and informs management of project portfolio progress and other criticalities for success.
Provides general technical support for other departments including research, problem solving, new ingredient/vendor approvals, response to inquiries, and technical summaries.
Manage and prioritize team activities including supervision of staff resources and project assignments while clarifying priorities, monitoring results, and taking corrective action when necessary.
Communicate and work with staff to ensure successful job performance and meet stated expectations.
Aid in development of staff and conduct annual formal performance reviews.
Continuously improves the Manager function by adding value to current processes, systems, and methods.
